My car passed its first MOT yesterday (although it cost me 67p for a numberplate bulb!). I thought the emissions results were interesting. Std UK turbo with the two cats in place.

Exhaust Emissions Test Results:

Engine oil temp min 80 Actual 80 OK

Fast idle test Pass
Engine speed min 2450 max 3050 2798 rpm Pass
CO max 0.30% 0.00% Pass
HC max 200 ppm 0 ppm Pass
lambda min 0.97 max 1.03 1.002 Pass

Natural idle test Pass
Engine speed min 750 max 1050 802 rpm Pass
CO max 0.50% 0.00% Pass

Overall result Pass

So my car as standard has zero Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbon emissions. That's nice to know (if it's really true?). I can tell all the environmentalists I have a very green car.

I don't think beleive some of the readings some of the MOT centres give. Took my Porsche, which is an '82 therefore no CAT, for an MOT and it passed. The figures where so low that it would have passed if it was subjected to the same test as cars with a CAT.

Either:
a)my car is really effcient
b)Optimax really does clean up your car or
c)their machine is buggered

Not that i really care as the car passed and I'm happy.

Pretty sure that my emmisions were very low indeed and sure zero was mentioned, thought can't be 100 percent sure on that.

Unhappy

And I was just complaining that my UK MY99 failed its first MOT with 9% CO2 emmissions. I wait until tomorrow to find out what might fix it as its still at the dealers.
