Thumbs up M.A.F sensor

Been having all sorts of probs with my wagon past few weeks no power and juddering under acceleration ,took it to local garage and they had it for two days and couldnt find the problem so i went for broke and got new sensor from Slipend garage near Luton (they were great ,had one in stock and if your a member of S.I.D.C. they will give you a dicount )fitted said sensor and god what a diff it made and yes i had told the garage to check the sensor when they had the car going to get my money back off them so next time i will go straight for the sensor next time as the blokes at Slipend reckon that if you got a K+N filter fitted they eat MAF's for breakfast end of story

MY99 - MY00 ones are about 80 quid. Earlier years are about 200-odd quid because you have to buy the housing as well.

It's a precision sensor. If you doubt this, get a poxy bit of plastic and add two probes to it, then see if your engine performs correctly with your Heath-Robinson arrangement.

I'm not a mechanic or owt, but from what I've heard, it's too little fuel that causes detonation and the death of scooby engines.

PANIC PANIC PANIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all need MAF Sensors!!!

PANIC PANIC PANIC !!!!!!!!!!

If you foook about with the Induction side of an Impreza you are going to mess up the MAF Sensor .... thats correct.

If you have the standard set-up then there is no worry whatsoever.

I'm glad you have sorted the problem - did you try cleaning the old one with brake cleaner? Would have been worth a try as you would have had nothing to lose.

£85 IS a rip-off .... costs all of £5 to make in China - thats the truth!

But, please, lets NOT have a panic buy on MAF sensors which happens everytime someone posts about them .......... you'll get an **** Retentive on in a minute telling you that your engine will need a £2000 re-build because the MAFs from MY99 and MY00 are 'weak' or 'slow' or 'delicate' or other such rubbish.
