Anyone got any idea how much it would cost to ship my Scoobie to New Zealand?

Alternativly does anyone know how much the new STi's are out there? I guess this would probably be a cheaper option?

I think I've seen guys post from New Zealand before..

Try these guys www.maersksealand.com

I had a quote for a Ferrari 360 Spider to South Australia from the UK and that was £1165.00 plus insurance at 0.5225% of a specified value.

Or if you are really minted you could fly it out there.

realenz is a great website as it links to most decent agents in NZ. Nearly all show piccies and the prices will surprise you. If you still want to ship your car , e-mail me and I will pass on some names. My brother in law works in import and export in Auckland.

Cool

I'm paying £800 plus 2.65% maritime insurance cost. But the real deal is £2000 for furniture or £2800 for furniture plus car.

At £800 it's cheaper to export my car, than to dump it and rebuy at NZ$50,000 - especially with the poor uk market.

Is everyone bloody emmigrating to NZ!!!!

We're going too Just waiting on our residence visa.

Has anyone else got prices for shipping 40ft contaniers, the places I have tried the prices have wildly varied!

With petrol prices being so low over there, I think i'll go for an STI-6 instead of a WRX.

welcome to godzone, guys.

the country was invented to provide backdrops for Lord of the Rings and to drive WRX's

..... just watch out for the earthquakes, the first few can be a bit un-nerving (last one was yesterday, Saturday, in the South Island - 6.1 on the Richter scale)

.... oh, and the motorcycle gangs - Satan's Slaves, Mongrel Mob, Nomads, etc; they've been a bit quiet lately, getting on with making their fortunes in the drug trade (mainly NZ Green)

Did the Immigration Dept forget to mention them?

Just one point...

If you want an STI be prepared to wait. Waiting lists are up as long as six months and as far as I know only 40 came in during 2001...

Picking mine up next week though!

Bretman - hope you enjoy the STI (bit out of my price range, unfortunately).

There's some tasty roads around PN built for Subarus - over the Pahiatua Track, then the turn-off to Woodville, then over the Saddle (parallel to the Manawatu Gorge), then up the Pohinga Valley.

Lots of twisties, hill climbs and some good straights near Kimbolton (but you probably know all that already).

If I see an STI, I'll wave

Well I've not made any plans to emigrate, still assessing the situation really. I'm mostly drawn by the property/land prices (and location, well away from here!). Can any of you guys tell me what the IT market is like out there? What about the contract market (is there one?).

Well, just got the call from NZ Immigration, all systems go, visa's are in the post!

Anyone got any good recommendations for Subaru Garages in the Auckland area? Sales and service.

Anyone selling their car in the next few months? Probably looking for a '00 WRX or STI DBM 4dr.

Another question, does anyone in NZ know if there is a waiting list for a new WRX?

Can't stand the new model, but what the hell, they are cheap (£13,800 at the rate I changed my sterling)

Congrats on the visa - it's a helluva wait and I've no idea why.

for dealerships, the subby website www.subaru.co.nz lists them all in NZ - you can even go to Possum Bourne's garage.

If you're bringing over a lot of gear, try to hire a whole container - its get loaded and sealed at your house and unsealed and unloaded at your destination.

If you get a part container (shared), it can get opened on the voyage over - and things can go missing.

It took less than 4 weeks for us, think that must be a record

Great, will grab the list off the subaru website. Any dealers to avoid in the Auckland area?

Yes we are getting a 40' container, hopefully will minimize any problems.
