Default Help- New Engine bay bolts

Can anyone help? I had my P1 covered over the winter period and the condensation caused most of the engine bay bolts to rust. Most are self tappers. Does anybody know where i can get stainless or anodised replacements or a kit? Cheers Gary

Be careful though: stainless steel doesn't have the tensile strength of ordinary bolt-grade steel, so shouldn't be used in higher tensile situations, if you get my drift.

Have a look in Yell.com the UK's local search engine - search for UK businesses, under "bolt and nut stockists" for your area.

Take the bolts you want replaced to them and ask what they have. You'll pay peanuts, as you won't want many of each, and no P&P.

Altetrnatively, try:

Mr Fast'ner

West Midlands
Tel: 024 7668 8000

I've replaced loads on mine, including the driving light bolts, (these with stainless security bolts), the lower plastic trim panels, (these with stainless roofing bolts!!), and a few others.

My mountain bike no longer has any type of bolts except alloy, stainless and titanium

See P1WOC, Pickle's car. His is a concours jobbie.

I think he found the bolts at the front of the engine bay were rusting along with the radiator top-mounts etc. He cleaned them up and painted them smooth black I think...

Anyway, look here...
