Glasgow to Gloucester - how long?
#1
I have to drive from just outside Glasgow to a hotel just north of Gloucester on Wednesday. Unfortunately I will have to work late before setting off, maybe as late as 10 pm.
ShellGeostar (free route planner) says it'll take 4.5 hrs - is this correct? Will I get Gatso'd if I go over 70 mph?

I do Oxford to Dundee (40 mins from Glasgow) in around 6 hours average. Fastest i've done it in is 5 hours and longest is 10 hours.
Like the above post says. I recommend you have left before 1pm at the latest to make sure you have got past all the rush hour traffic of Birmingham and Manchester and these times. Glasgow traffic isn't anything to worry about.
Only cameras en-route are around Birmingham. (specs)
Slow down for every section of reduced roadworks. i.e 40mph and 50mph. as there are always cameras in them. (gatso)
No more apart from that.

Leaving very early in the morning helps as the M6 from Stafford to the M5 can be very painful. Its been a while since I did that trip but Swindon to Glasgow 4.5 hours sounds just right.

I recently moved to Glasgow from Manchester - fastest when quiet for that section just over 3 hours - i'd allow about 1.75 hrs minimum from there to Gloucester so minimum 4.75 hours - in reality more like 5.5 hours depending on how heavy your right foot is! beware the rozzers near Carlisle and the M6 from Lancaster down past Preston.
