Points are valid for 3 years from the date of the offence (in the case of a fixed penalty notice) but can't be removed from licence for 4 years from date of conviction - which, if an FPN and you pay it .... is the day you got it..... if that makes sense!

It's removed from the licence after 3 years BUT insurance companies want to know about the last 5 years. Anything to screw more money out of you.
