Car Data Check - Check Your Car Data Online

you can do an HPI check which includes any recorded incidents etc, along with a ****load of other info. £35 i think, but well worth it if you're looking at buying a car.

If you kept the car then the insurance company wont have written it off. Its a register of total loss cars, not a register of cars mended by insurers.

You do a car data check like the one i posted above though, and it will tell you if its been in any incidents. There is a record or crashes etc, despite them not being written off.

88600 on your mobile. It costs a couple of quid, but it does the job. Dont think its as thorough at HPi but its from the same company. Just type:

"check NUMBER PLATE" TO 88600.

You should get back about 2/3 messages about the car.

The car was stolen in july last year, curiosity has got the better of me.
don't intednd selling my car, but who knows in a couple of years i may want to, i was just wondering if it would show up on any records.
The car was not written off, and had hardly any damage done to it.

Thanx

Not really much point then until you wanna sell it. Would be worth doing then so that a potential buyer wouldn't find something out that you didn't know and make it look like you were possibly hiding something, but in the mean time, save your dollars i reckon!!

would the theft reduce the value if the work was carried out by main dealer with guarantees?

Will put some people off.

PS. HPI EVERY car before purchasing. Don't settle that they already have one either, they can be faked. Worth the £20 or whatever it is.

Cars repaired by insurers ARE NOT recorded on any registers!
