Default I need some info please

1,What exactly will a full decat and remap and downpipe do to my totally standard 03 STI type uk. It may sound a stupid question, but i can't get my head around all this technical stuff.

2, Will this do any damage to my car long term or short term, will it need more attention than if i don't have anything done. I.E. Servicing etc...

Thanx

1) The basic package (Stage 1) you should consider:

- A high flow panel filter (£40) Something like K&N, Green.
- A Walbro 255 Fuel Pump (£80)
- Full decat (downpipe, cat pipe, centre, backbox) (£3-500) OR
- Sport Cat system (£5-700)
- Remap (£650) - first time includes license, subsequent maps are circa £200

That will give you an excellent, much more driveable car than standard, with the power coming in sooner & progressive, rather than nothing...nothing...wham.

You'll see around 320bhp/320lb torque. Some get in the region of 330.

If you don't fancy sourcing the parts yourself, you could go for a package from the likes of Powerstation, or TSL.

PowerStation
TSL MOTORSPORT | Subaru Saab Mitsubishi | parts | repair | servicing | performance tuning | UK

2) The car will be mapped well within the safety parameters and will not effect the car. As your car is out of warranty, that is not an issue, but some/most dealers don't mind doing warranty work as long as the modifications were not to blame. ie. Brakes, Battery or whatever.

No extra attention required. Just service and maintain as normal.

If i could go back and do it again, i would. The drive home was just unreal. It made such a difference to the car. How it should feel standard i felt.

For circa £1200 it's the best money can buy.
