Would it cost round about the same to insure an £18000 STi as an EVO 6 for about the same price.

depends on the insurer, Direct Line quoted me similar for STI, Evo and UK, UK was about £1350, evo was about £1350, STI was £1420, not enough difference to choose between them really.
But you probably know the formula for insurance premiums don't you -
Think of a 4 digit number
Multipy it by your chest or bra size
Divide it by your shoe size
multiply the result by you height in Centimeters
divide it by your weight in ounces
Add the purchase price of the car
divide it by the day of the month.
And multiply by the top speed
Divide by the number of seconds the car takes to be nicked
add the power of the car in BHP unless it is Jap Spec, then use PS!
Calculate and Remember the number from above.
Think of another number
Then add the number of years NCB to your age and divide this by the orginal number
Add 20%
Add 44% for your modifications - an air freshener and nodding dog, but they seriously increase the risk associated with the car!
Add £20 for legal cover
Adjust the figure using the monkey's insurance uncertantity principle and divide by your ASCII code for your mothers maiden name...
Add it all together (or ring your broker), then you'll have the figure, but thats just for 3rd party cover, you should see the way they work Fully comp cover out!!
