Not having any luck selling my car privately, so it looks as if I’ll have to go down the trade in route to get a Scooby

Has anyone been near a Subaru (or other!) dealer recently and saw a car that might fit the bill? I’ve tried the Subaru website, but it’s a bit wonky and have also found that the prices there tend to be higher than the windscreen prices when you visit the dealer. I’m happy to travel anywhere for the right car!

Ideally, I’m looking for an T, V or W plate Impreza in Silver or DBM, or a lower mileage R or S plate in Reddish Blue (or a Terzo) – hopefully between 10 and 32k miles

My budget would be between £12 and £15k maximum depending on what I get for a trade in on my X reg 206 GTI

My local Subaru dealer did have a V plate with 22k for £14,995, but I missed that

Any help appreciated as I am now getting fed up with this whole car selling business. If I can’t find one soon, I’ll have to give up until the New Year

PS Thanks also to everyone who has previously emailed with offers of Imprezas for sale privately, but unfortunately as I can’t sell my own car, I can’t buy privately. Unless you know someone looking for a minted 206 GTI for a bargain price.

Posting up here would help or email to ccars@btinternet.com as me other email is gubbed

Ta muchly

Mainly the reason I gave up on the idea of changing my car for something cheaper to run. Far too much hassle and any money I might save in running costs was eaten up by the depreciation I would have had to take. You say you saw a V reg with 22K on the clock for £14,995 well that is a lot more than you offered me for my W reg with 15K on the clock you cheeky monkey!! (Not that I blame you I would do exactly the same thing in your situation!)

Funny how when I asked how much my local dealer was going to offer for my car they seemed pretty disinterested especially when I told them it had no aircon (Well this was probably all so they could offer as little as possible for my car). It costs £1000 to have aircon fitted so would they have offered me more than £1000 less than a similar car with aircon?

Good luck with your search and I will keep my eyes open although as you know I live on the other side of the country to you.

Just out of interest how much are they offering you on your 206 GTi?

JD,

Thanks for the offer!

With regards your car, the difference was mainly due to your car being a private sale and this being a main dealer - plus the £14,995 was the sticker price before any haggling

Obviously I'm going to offer you a bit less - that's the name of the game start low and meet in the middle

As for the price they offered me - I can't even bring myself to repeat it - too painful I'd rather keep the car than let it go for that price!

Gza,

Town and County in Aberdeen (01224 874333) have 98S 4dr Turbo Nighfire Red 14K miles £14,250. Have also got 3 5drs within your price range.

Morrison Motors, Turriff (01888 562069) have 98R Terzo £14,650 no mileage noted. Also have 2 R Reg Turbo's.

You could also try Brian Downie, Kemnay (01467 643546), Sunnyhill Motors, Turriff (01888 562054), Indy Car Sales, Maud (01771 653500) - Not sure what these guys have in stock at the moment but worth a try anyway.

Hope this helps and good luck.

L

How much for the GTi? Need to replace Mrs Cats car in the near future. One question - how child seat friendly and is there a passenger side airbag? (better without for child seat)

The_gza,

This will make you laugh, just had a call from the BMW dealer and he has finally got a trade in value for the Impreza. £12.5K was the best price he could get for a W reg car with 16K on the clock.

Wonder how much a dealer would have that marked up on their forecourt for??
