Default Intellistart - By Clifford

What a product. its a bit of a "show off" but its absolutly awesome. Start your car from your remote when your inside the house, about 5 mins before leaving, and ur cars half warm for you before you even leave the door! Just got it fitted yesterday, and it acts as a turbo timer when u leave the car! Expensive though at £265 fitted

Got them on both my motors, had them for about 2 years now, good in summer for aircon and good in winter for those frosty mornings thats if you remember to switch the heater on full blast and put the control onto the screen before switching your motor off the night before.

A friend who had a blackjax fitted to his skyline, was told by his insurance company that both blackjax and remote start can void it.

Not saying its true, just what i was told

Told same thing. Being able to have remote start removes the cat 1 status of the alarm in the UK as intellistart is more a US thing. Keep quiet was the advice i got (had it on my FTO and yes it was fab in winter!)

My insurance company are well aware of it and have no issues with it at all, unless you know how blackjax and intellistart works then you will realise that there are no issues having them on your motor.

I've got it on mine, with a Clifford Arrow G5.

I don't see how Intellistart could void insurance, mine works when the alarm and immobiliser is still on, as soon as any door, including the boot lid or bonnet, is open the engine cuts off and the alarm lets everyone know about it.

Its nice to get into a warm car on a morning though

Ha ha ha ha they don't know Clifford?
Like it's the best company in the world?

How about when a faulty Blackjax kicks in when you're on the motorway and switches your car off because of the unit?
Yeah......that made me have a lot of faith in them.....
Or how about tyring to get it resolved?
No?

And the remote starts?
Must be clever when the battery runs low, the car starts and if you park it in gear it does a Herbie.....lol

The battery never goes below a certain voltage with the clifford alarm I have, and the intellistart, it wont even start if u have it in gear, its wired up so it doesnt do it as a safety feature. You must be a retard to leave it in gear when you know you are going to be using it!

But honestly, its a good product, really helps out! Definatly worth the money I paid!

Does the intellistart bypass the blackjax?

Or does it include robotic fingers to enter the code before starting

You've obviously had a bad experiance with clifford or had your alarm wired up wrong.

No blackjax dosn't come into action untill you unlock your doors, with intellistart it allows you to start your motor via your remote and all your doors remain locked, like i said above until you know exactly how it works and its wired up correctly they are quite impressive.

If you're going to be using it...so you plan when you're going to use it? Like outside the pub with your mates watching?

Well if you know your stuff leaving it in first gear prevents it being towed on a 4wd car, stops it rolling down a hill if the handbreak fails, and if you're in a hurry.....clutch down, start the car clutch up.......the door is ->

No.

It comes from incompetence from Clifford.....STRAIGHT from clifford, fitted by clifford and manufactured by clifford....took 4 attempts to get it right...

Indeed it would be very messy, and as stated Intellistart is not cat 1 approved and most insurance companies insist on cat 1 for scoobs.

Oh and it's pointless.

clifford in the past were very poor, and made worse by poor fitting.

The G5 models currently fitted should not be judged in the same way, they are incredible.

In the old days, intellistart was fitted with a switch to make sure the vehicle was in neutral, if a manual and if an automatic they come standard that way.

Now, on a manual car, the only way to enable modern intellistart is to enable it each time you leave your vehicle the night before.

With the keys in the ignition and the engine running, you press the correct button. You then remove the keys and the engine remains running, exit the car and lock it via the alarm as normal. The engine stops immediately. This way the system knows that the last time the car was locked, it was safe to run the engine.

I will be having it fitted as soon as my car has had its worked finished, with cold mornings in mind.
