problems of steel bonnets and aluminium bonnets...
Is there any differences as far as fuel consumption or handling if i were to buy a steel bonnet for my 52reg Bug eye???
I know my current bonnet is aluminium, and i'm considering getting a new bonnet from a particular company that makes them, but it's Steel. Rather than getting a scoop and moulding it to my current bonnet then spraying it etc.
Prices aren't known yet, but as far as handling and consumption, can anyone shed light on the matter for me???
Anyone had experiences with this?
Bongo

and to help you with you question have you tried one of the Subaru breakers? grade-a for instance? probably a lot cheaper then a new one.
and next time less of the profanity, people are less likely to respond, comprenda

Bongo.
Seen another of your posts on this subject where you note that you've not got a turbo motor. Best thing will be to source an un-damaged WRX or STi bonnet from a scrap dealer. Don't go steel would be my view ...
If you're driving a Sport then it is same size as WRX/STi so should swap no bother?
TX.

Difference here is, i'm brand new to the whole 'buy a car then buy more bits of it' lol. Every car up to now i've had has come and gone and stayed standard.
We cleared it up anyway though some PM's and the two original posters in this thread helped me out a ****load!

You'll know if it's steel when you open it - you've had cars before, then it will be a 'similar' weight. If it's aluminum then it will feel light as ****.
As for handling/fuel comsumption, no difference. Even a race car driver wouldn't notice the difference. If anyone tells you different, they're full if S**T. However aluminum has the *WOW* factor on here.

Mate, take a chill pill, SNET is full of pi$$takers get used to it.
Try API on 01926614522 they keep a VERY large stock of all parts and David will answer any queries you have also.
Your best bet is to just get a ally bonnet including scoop, you never know he might have it in your colour too
