Default Sti rear seat into a UK model

Hi all,

I want to fit an Sti rear seat into my uk my99. I know about the bulkhead etc and the split/folding seat. My question is has anyone done this and if so, how have they reinforced the rear of the Sti back section, as at the moment it is just sponge. I was thinking of a piece of plywood or something like that.

Also as the UK seat is obviously more complicated and uses more fittings, once it is out will the Sti seat fit straight in, apart from the open bulkhead.

I have tried a search but can't find any info.

Cheers

James

There is a steel bar that goes across the rear seat (from inside the boot) on the Jap cars, which the UK one doesnt have

It has the bolt holes tho, and the bar wont fit with the UK seats, but will with the Jap rear seats

What he said. When you get the seat, get the bar and bolts too.

Remove all fittings which are used for split/fold, before fitting new seat.

Did mine last summer, and a pair of STi6 front seats too, very nice.

I'd have thought so, IIRC it was square section so as not to bend easily. The bolts are stock items too, find the holes and get some that fit the threads, which are captive.

Or contact whoever sold you the seat and ask them if they have the bar. It's not worth owt to them.
