Default Picked my car up today.....WOW

As title suggests, picked up my brand new euro import STI in WR Blue. All I can say is WOW. Can't give it some boot yet becuase of the running in but have given it a little (5000 rpm) and it nearly snapped my neck when it hit full boost at 3500 rpm. I traded an RX8 in for it and what a difference between the two.
The RX8 is a good car and is fast but you have to work the gearbox and rev it high to get it to go. The STI is a totally different animal.
When I picked the car up I noticed two small scratches on the nearside wing of which one is down to the primer. Dealer has agreed that I can get it repaired and they will pay the bill as I did not want to go home without the car having travelled 60 miles to collect it. Can anyone recommend a repairer in south yorkshire that will make a Quality job.
Can't wait for it to be run in so I can really enjoy the car and get ready for Trackdays come the Spring.

Will post some picks when I get time to take some.

Cheers, Chris.

Enjoy your car. Why not get the dealer to do the job when it goes in for its first service.

Cheers mate I think I will try them. Have also noticed under the lights in the garage, there appears to be a very slight dent around the deepest scratch.

I remember my first day of Subaru ownership, couldn't stop grinning every time i put my foot down, it's very adictive.

Do you mind me asking where you got your car and how much it cost, I've been thinking about getting a euro import STI

Will take some photos when I get a little time and post them up. I bought the car from Allbrandsnew for £21,200 brand new with Cat1 alarm/imobiliser and with 13 miles on the clock. Also I am the first registered owner. Can't wait to start Modding it, think I will wait a few months to iron out any teething troubles and then void the warranty.

Quick question, the exhaust note is a bit lame on the new STI's so I want to swap it. I don't want one that is too loud probably about the same as the stock blobeye maybe a tad louder. Can anyone who has allready done an exhaust swap on a Hawkeye reccomend one that will fit the bill. I was maybe thinking the Milltek. I have already ordered a front splitter and some rally flaps.

What do you guys think?

Chris.

What numbers did you get from the high flow cat, Milltec and remap. Would the exhaust be quieter with just the Miltec. All I am looking for at this time is being able to hear the exhaust note whilst driving as at the moment I can only hear the engine. I don't want the neighbours thinking I'm a sad git at 38 with a big exhaust if you know what I mean. Can you describe what the sound level is like from both inside and outside the Car.

Cheers, Chris.

Glad you're enjoying the car.

I'd look for compensation on top of them footing the bill. You're buying a new car that's in need of repair for the price of a brand spanking minter.

Up to you, but you'd win.

You're car is devalued as soon as it enters the bodyshop.

regards

James

I sort of agree with you on that one as when you buy a new car you don't want it to have been repaired in anyway, but the truth of the matter is almost all new cars sold have had some kind of bodywork repair before you buy it. This is especially true of cars which are from Japan. They are loaded into containers bumper to bumper and take lots of different knocks, they are then strapped down tightly and spend the next 3 months crossing very rough seas. They are brought off the ship and usually go straight into the bodyshop on the docks over hear and have all the dings and scratches repaired as well as other items of repair. I have seen it done.

hi chris the exhaust note is just right imo. the figures are 344.6 bhp &377.1 1bft of torque this is with a panel filter as well. At 41 i to didnt want to be classed as a **** with a loud exhaust.

I changed the original back box to a Prodrive one that I had on a previous scoob, and whilst it was better, it still wasn't as burbley as I wanted it so I have just changed it again for a TSL Group N box. It sounds alot better, just contemplating changing the resonated section aswell.

I fitted the TSL group N back box and had the resonator section removed, sounds great...but not too loud.

TSL are great guys, they just did my mate's UK STi with the 333 conversion, however, they offered me a £30 discount on a pulse extraction exhaust and remap, which wasn't acceptable, so that's why I'm going to Powerstation. Also, that pulse extraction exhaust on a JDM gives around 392lbs of torque! I'm paying the same money at Powerstation, and that also includes Eibach springs and a geometry alignment.

TSL
Pulse extraction exhaust
remap
panel filter

Total cost inc vat £2046

POWERSTATION
Milltek exhaust system
remap
panel filter
Eibach springs
4 wheel geometry alignment

Total cost inc vat £1997

Yes I am aware the TSL system will give 360bhp 392 lbs torque and the Powerstation is 340bhp and similar torque. So, TSL, if you're reading this, make me an offer via PM, including springs and geometry set up.
