what to replace my scooby with?
scumbags broke into my house while we were all in bed, me the missus and two kids. Made off with my scoob (54plate wrx ppp upgrade), only had the car 6 weeks! In addition they took both our mobile phones and the wifes handbag.
cops found it within a few hours cause i have a tracker, but that was three weeks ago. I had to have new locks and alarm fitted by the dealer plus two wheels and tyre replaced as they got kerbed.
I picked up the car today and its as much fun as it was, i had forgotten how quick it is!. But it has to go i am just not putting my family through the risk of another break in
but what can i replace it with that could compare with my scoob? Gutted

How about an MG ZT 260 now don't snigger! I'm talking about the one with the V8 in it. There's a feature in the current issue of Practical Performance Car magazine and they're a whole lot of car bit for little money.

I liked mine quite a lot, and they are far more discreet than a Scooby.
I keep my car in a locked garage - and always take the keys upstairs with me in the night! I also have two large dogs!
Sorry to hear about all the crap you have been through, it must be so scary for your wife and kids!
Best of luck with your next car
Mark

I'm sorry to hear about your probs mate, at least you and the family are safe.
Have you considered a wagon, it's a little less in your face and don't attract
so much attention.

I visited a few garages the next day with the intention of getting rid of the Scoob, but in the end I couldn't do it. I figure it was a one off (I live in a nice area) and I love the car. Doors always locked now even during the day, curtains closed at night, keys hidden, dog kept hungry (joke!) and I bought a few cans of mace off *bay that I keep around the place
Knicking the car is one thing, but breaking into your house for keys is going too far. I'm seriously thinking about taking up clay pigeon shooting.

Basically you're screwed. Sorry. If you live in that kind of area then any car which looks like it is going to be fun to drive is going to be a target. All the German stuff is no safer because everyone knows about them and their capabilities. Either improve the security on your house, get a dog or change to a more mundane vehicle. Why not downgrade to something painless to own like a Mondeo and spend the thousands of pounds you'll save on some track day fun?
There is another thread similar to this that has been posted in the last couple of weeks. It isn't worth the risk of it happening again. Imagine if the Mrs or Junior has been downstairs getting a drink when they broke in....doesn't bear thinking about.

I don't keep the car at my house. Its in a gaarage in the city centre and I use a scooter or a diesel dogger to get to it, avoid the key stealing and worries about the family!!!
