I can't believe people that live near airfields and then complain about noise.
It's a bloody airfield for gods sake, it's probably just as noisey with jets taking off...
A bit like the people of crawley complaing about gatwick. If it wasn't there crawley wouldn't exist and 70% of them would be out of work.

There were similar issues with Aldershot Stockcar stadium back in the late 80’s with engine and tyre noise, but when the defence team dug deeper in to the case it showed that over 90% of the petition signatories had moved to the area long after the circuit had been in operation, and knew of the noise issue. This blew a rather large hole in their case. The end result was a simple case of noise limits on exhausts, which as it turned out most cars already meet.
The irony of it all was that a few years later the whole lot was bulldozed an a bypass put through!! What would you put up with, a race meeting 1 or 2 times a week or the constant drone of traffic!!!
Its sad enough to try taxing us of the roads, but when they start on your local circuit, its time for a fight!!!!!!!

Sadly you can expect nothing more these days from the PC brigade, the fact that our rights to go about or daily business are being infringed is irrelevant to these people.
I can completly understand why people would be miffed off at an F1 car warming up in their back garden but the majority of british motorpsort tracks have been in operation way before anyone has lived in a house near the track (or if they are they must be in their late 90s). Elvington for example has been operational since 1942. The last ops RAF jet to take off was in 1992. I think the first track day was in about 1997/8?? Civilian operations still take place and there is an airshow there every year too.
I am quite sure that in the next 5 years there will be serious restrictions put on track days. I can see a blanket noise limit of 99dB coming in. I can also see some kind of track tax for our polluting cars.

During the summer hearing, resident Timothy Vicary claimed the "horrendous and outrageous" noise from vehicle testing was ruining the life of him and his wife. He said the noise of the testing of Formula One racing cars and motorcycle events made them depressed, irritated and angry.
Elvington is an isolated spot, i dont remember noticing any houses near the entrance? Plus, there is a gun club which overlooks Elvington, this will be just as noisy, if not more when they are shooting

Bloody tree huggers!
Last track day some of them turned up with a sound meter - the temptation to bypass the cones and mow them down was so much I was shaking

If you had a calibrated noise metre. Paced in teh house of one of the residents that complained and take a note of the readings during a weekend of "activites" at the airfield. THEN, did the same test when the doddery moaning neigbour(s) get out their 30yr old Atco 17" Delux Stripemaster cylinder mower and mowed their lawn. Odds on the mower makes more noise (as its closer) and proabably messes up the picture on your portable TV, due to an unsupressed ignition system (or wrong spark plug).
Every weekends, every neighbour has to endure a whole sunny quiet afternoon at the weekend being disturbed by the chorus of hundreds of mowers in the local vicinity chugging away. Does anyone complain about that? No, but it makes alot of noise so should we? Afterall, we have to mow our lawns, don't we? But do we have to live right next to an airfield? No, so move and endure the chorus of lawnmowers elsewhere on your "quiet" weekend.

the trouble is with half the posts on here is that you don't have to put up with the noise because those making comments don't live next to the place so it's easy to make trite remarks !! sorry for being objective !! look it up !!

I shoot every Sunday start at 10:00 am we try our hardest to limit the noise but the locals objected and got the council to come down and test how noise we are BUT next to us we have a MOD range shoot 24/7 and a train track
so the tested came stod at the bottom of the feield with his state of the art sound tester when a train want past and it went off the chart and broke it so we now shoot as much as we like lol
