Default Servicing intervals

Hi peeps,

just a quick question: I'm getting confused as to how often to service my 03 uk STI, the book says every 10,000 miles although I have learnt that you should service them every 6,500 miles - does this mean big services every 10k with smaller services 6,500 after - that means only 3,500 miles after a small service you should have a large service?

No - you have 4 levels of service , A B C D.

The service schedule goes something like this:

A B A C A D A C A B A C&D A B A C A D A B

You go through this schedule at every 10,000 - or after period of time, as you say, it's nice to be able to do this every 6,500.

Each level will have an increasing level of service - and A is basically an Oil and filter change along with level checks - where as a C&D will be a full fluid replacement along with plugs and cambelt etc.

Every 6,500 miles!!!! I would be very surprised at that. Are you sure you are not thinking about 7,500 miles that comes with a classic car?
I have a 53 Plate STi with PPP and even Prodrive say 10,000 mile servicing is adequate. I take it you use you'res for track days?

Thanks guys, i'm not sure where I head 6,500 miles it's a number that's stuck in my head for services.. i'm sure I read it in the forums here somewhere or is it the evo i'm thining of? I think that's every 4,500 miles or something silly hence why I didn't get one! Oh well, i'm glad to hear 10,000 miles is right - means I got a fair bit to go before I shell out...

And no I don't use it for track days.... thinking of it though

A lot of people change oil/filter at 5k intervals (ie between schedule services) as it's a piece of **** and an extra safety net if you're running anything above basic mods..
