We are in the first stages of planning a round the world charity flight to promote awareness in a condition known as Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). The operation is being called 'Flight for Hearts', and is working on behalf of three charities involved with cardiac related illnesses and conditions here in the UK and around the world: SADS UK, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and the Cardiomyopathy Association.

The aim of the flight is to send Nigel Wheeldon, a Consultant Cardiologist, around the world on a lecture tour of leading teaching universities and hospitals to raise awareness and stimulate provision of services and support for this condition and other associated conditions.

The SADS condition affects young, apparently fit and healthy people by striking them down without warning through an arhythmia of the heart. The resulting devastation caused to the family and friends of victims is indescribable. Our goal is to initiate Government legislation to safeguard those who may be at risk from a fatal cardiac arrhythmia and to raise awareness about the possible hereditary nature of cardiac conditions.

Being a charitable organisation, our funds for this expedition are limited. Fund raising is already underway and the flight is scheduled to leave the UK on August 1st 2007. It is our hope that we can gain as much financial support as possible to cover the cost of the flight through donations and sponsorship. However, the total cost is expected to be over £200,000. This is a lot of money, but we are confident we will achieve this goal with your help.

Every mile flown is estimated to cost £5, and every donation will help push the flight that little bit further along the journey! There is no minimum donation, and no maximum... all donations are very gratefully received.



All donations are eligible to reclaim Gift Aid, meaning that every donation is worth 28% more than the donated amount. For example, for a donation of £10 the charities actually receive £12.82!
