Question Just Filled Up With Fuel

And it will not take more than 43Litres ..... therefore I reckon I have a 45 Litre tank.

Yet some on here say I have a 60 Litre tank???

MY2000 Classic UK car.

I get 380miles from a tank so thats 38mpg ...... but, if it is a 60 litre tank it will obviously be only 29mpg???

Confused ............

Pete,

I'm not gonna argue :

1) you have the finger on the button re our nuclear weapons

2) even more important, you are omnipotent as far as bad reps are concerned !

I indeed have massive firepower via the Rep system ..... which is only right as I am highly thought of, clearly

And you have only ever had positive Reps from me I think?

The ***** are worried, and should be, we don't want them ruining our Forums with claptrap ...........

The ***** days are numbered

Dodgy warning light ? - 29 mpg sounds believable - 38 does not

A fair point well made Pete (as he retraces his steps, sheepishly).

PS. I reckon your tank will be 60 litres.

You have a 60 litre tank Pete; the same as everyone else with a late Classic.

Nah ............ Bubba Po and I can wipe someone off the board with a carefully aimed 2 pronged attack - Simon is extremely small fry to us!

And yes, Simon, I know I have been told I have a 60 Litre tank but I can only ever get 43 Litres in ....... now, either my light/gauge is fooked - or I actually have a 45 Litre tank!?

If the light/gauge has failed it seems odd that it has failed a exactly the point at which 'other' capacity the Impreza had??

Pete, why don't you just say what you are really getting at. I.E. 'My ***** is bigger than all of yours!'

Surely this can't be a new problem Pete ? Haven't you had your car for 7 years ? Perhaps the fuel tank has shrunk ?

You'd normally have about 2 gallons when the low fuel level warning light comes on (AFAIR). 1 UK gallon = 4.544 litres

Anyway, I'm off to wash the Scoob.

The gauges are far from accurate Pete. My 'Wagon will manage '40mpg' on the first half of the gauge but 1/2 to 1/4 disappears far more quickly and the last 1/4 of a tank displayed is so vague that I always fill-up.

The 'other' capacity that you mention was 50 litres but it was improved long before your car was built.

Are you overlooking the large reserve capacity, that remains when your low fuel lamp illuminates?

I have been posting on here that I was getting 38mpg and I was being slated for it!!!

They said I had a 60 Litre tank - I believed them and just filled up whenever ignoring really what was what ..........

BUT, recently I have noticed that I can only get 43 Litres in!!!

Fact remains, of course, that I get 350 miles between 43 Litre fill ups .... that means I am getting 37 mpg, roughly!

Why you just drive until you run out of fuel, then fill up?

I can't believe you waste your time taking any notice of these worthless gauges and flashing lights, and then waste even more calculating your MPG from it. Take no notice of them and it won't do you any harm at all. Look at lawnmowers, they dont have fuel gauges and mine never breaks down

Well, I am really confused ............. my light comes on, I drive some more, the needle is nearly off the scale and 43 Litres is all I can get in!

I did get 37mpg out of my UK 99 Turbo once, but that was at a constant 55/60mph on a motorway run.
Pete, stop lying, every knows that you're lying.

Don't worry too much about it all ........... just that I think I have a 45Litre tank (or, as Simon has pointed out above, a 50 Litre tank!)

But I should have a 60!!

I really cannot remember ever doing that - NO!

I fill up to go to Cornwall or Yorkshire and its always around 40-45 Litres!

And for that I do about 380 miles before I need to stop for fuel again.

Hmmm. Expect your dealership would be able to tell the difference by a visual inspection.

Why would you want to go to Yorkshire anyway ?
