Anyone spot any speed traps this weekend?

Interesting set of cameras around M4 junction 35 westbound. Series of about 5 fixed position cameras over a distance of 1-2 miles. Wouldnt have batted an eyelid, except the cameras had spikes on the poles to prevent climbing which is a bit OTT for just traffic flow cameras. Any ideas what they are?

Went through a few Gatso's (into Cardiff and a small village that I forget) that were all loaded. We had a Bell 330 and Geodesy in our car so only a dead person could have missed them - what a bloody racket!

Didn't seem to be much Plod activity.

Some interesting looking cameras on some of the other bridges on the M4 as well. Kev saw some similar ones on the M42 around Brum recently. Not TrafficMaster as there looked to be three things on the bracket (a la SPECS but defo not the same). Geodesy didn't say a thing on the M4 and I updated it on Thursday before we left.

Didn't find any with my Bel550. a few stationary plod blocking roads but thats it.

after beng caught on last years event I was expecting a lot more activity.

(Oh - i should mention I was lost in lanes for a lot of the day so prehaps this is a bit biased)

Does anyone know if the mobile cameras work in the dark?

My Geodesy sparked up a few times on the M4, I wasn't hot so didn't take much notice. Got the upgrade on the Thursday, still unsure about it.

Were the spikes there to keep the birds off? I know that this is done in train stations.

re the cameras at j 35 .as far as i know they are obs cameras only due to the tendancy of some of the local nutters to race up and down cutting across the little coned bit in the middle.
the main cameras they use are in astra and transit size vans in red blue and white.
couple of gatsos in the smaller villages but not many.

....speed traps were everywhere on the Rally...
Shakedown Weds am - Unmarked Dark Blue Volvo S40 P*** TAB driving up and down passed the service area
A465 after the turn off to Tonna. Dark red Renault hire van with a fixed camera forward facing
M4 J46 - White unmarked Vauxhall Omega
M4 Sun - J 46 - J26.. counted 4 or 5 camera units on the bridges in anything from a dark blue Ford Galaxy to white Hire Vans (Renault Traffics)
Plus the abundance of marked bikes and traffic units.... strange how the place is crawling with them yet you never see 'em on Rallye Catalunya
