*IMPORTANT* Who's coming to the Rally this weekend ?
Guys need to let you all now when you cross the new Severn Crossing and hit the Welsh side you will start to approach the toll booths.... when your around 3/4 of a mile away from these the speed will drop to 50mph when you see this please stick to this ! they have a van on a bridge just before the tolls and hit this regualr... they will be about this weekend as they are for any event at the stadium they make a fortune from this van.
As I have said please stick to 50 as they will see you before you see them... and don't drag it away from the booths as they have been hot on that lately as well... they get on a few bridges on route so best keep the speeds safe all the way in.
Enjoy your visit I don't want anyone going home with a ticket if possible
Regards
Simon

Just use the old bridge, signposted M48, no 50mph limit, no scamera. 2 lane only but 1/4 of the traffic. Ideal.
I was going to tell you that the toll was on eastbound traffic only on this bridge but no-one would fall for that would they?

This is a good warning, I deliver cars to Cardiff regularly on Saturday mornings and the speed cameras are there 90% of the time, esp when events are on at th millenium stadium.

Any time guys
The old bridge comment is a very good one
Head for Chepstow and that's the one for the old bridge the tolls are normally quite unlike the new one... yes it puts a few miles on the journey but it's not a bad little run.
I live right between both bridges so I'm well aware of the local hot spots.
Check the BRIDGE out between 23a and 24 by Underwood.. a nods as good as a wink on that one
As said I don't want to see you visit to Wales spoilt by this
I'll see you guys on the stand on Sunday

I'm only there on the sunday myself around the service area
I dread to imagine how many people the bridge van has snapped over time, it makes me mad to think people travel to Cardiff for the big events since Wembly has been shut and then get snapped in that 50mph zone.
What a way to remember a visit to Wales
One of the guys on another forum has added between stages last year they had motorbikes fitted with cameras about the place so it looks like a very steady weekends driving is needed again this year.

Apparently they are now using a tripod camera system on the bridge, and parking the van out of the way so its not so obvious. Presumably as every bugger (including me) slowed down until they saw whether the van was there, and then sped up if it wasn't.
So I have not seen this yet myself, but have a look out just in case.

Very quite on the tolls, which made up for the extra miles

That was you that woke me up going past then Danny as I was snoozing off
Picture this, just approaching the tolls on the new bridge looking up you will see a huge sign right across part of the road, looking closer at it you think there is a small bridge behind the sign hmmmm there are a few panels missing from that sign I wonder why... oh yes there is a van parked half behind the sign the fact that a few panels are missing may come in handy for some covert ops
Enjoy a safe weekend in Wales everyone

Also be aware i was down at the rally service area today at Felindre, just past Swansea, and there was a speed camera van on the bridge directly over the junction. Also there were loads of police traffic cars around the area just itching to DO the unsuspecting visitors Take it easy guys and have a good'un

in fact if you are going to watch the rally, drive like your granny at all times.
remember, just because you saw Petter Solberg flash past on the stage, doesn't mean to say you are him when you leave.
Believe, the police are b**tards down this way and you english people are easy fodder, they love rally GB as it gets their road 'safety' figures right up.
Lots of unmarked cars as well, being driven dangerously, I may add, so get your misses to drive!!.
I'm making my Dad drive his Volvo, now way am I taking my scoob target.
