Default How reliable would you say.....

A standard 02WRX would be?

It has 26000 mls on the clock and is never taken over 2000rpm for the first 20 minutes of driving.

The thing is im getting bloody paranoid over the engine going pop for some silly reason or another

Admitedly i only have to drive to and from work during the week, which about 3.5 miles, but none the less i still never take it over 2000 rpm for the journey's to and from.

Is this just me being sillly or has anyone had their engine go pop or lost the big ends in a simular situation ????

cheers
steve.

When i sold my 2002 bug wrx it had 32k on the clock and it never missed a beat. Like you i drive a few miles to work and i kept below 3000rpm. Gave it plenty of stick on weekends.
I think your worrying about nothing.
Nik.

Give over! It's a car for gd's sake, not a fragile new born!

Why on earth buy a scooby to drive like a granny? You wouldn't treat any other car this way. Just get in it and drive normally and no, it won't go pop.

How

My modified 01 has done 42k miles.

I reguarly open it up and won't hesitate to use the full rev range - ofcourse I only do this when fully upto temp and always allow it to cool down properly before switching off.

I have the oil change every 5-7k and would class it as impeccably maintained. The car has never missed a beat and runs as sweet now as it did the day I bought it.

Show the car a degree a mechanical sympthay as I do mine - relatively easy on the gearbox for example, and it ought to run like clock work for years and years. I have friends who drive and maintain their cars in exactly the same fashion and theirs still run perfectly fine even with over 100,000 on the clock in some cases.

Whats made you feel like this Mate. Generally the car is very reliable. The unreliable ones are either abused ones or have no history. Enjoy it.

The only problems you will have with your car is whatever is modded! Simple.
My car has just been modded for the second time, MY03 WRX, and the only things i have ever had trouble with are modded bits.
The car is still awesome, and still taking the approx. 340/340 i am now slinging at it.
Just done 57,000 miles i think it is, or that could be 56,000 LOL.
