Big end/piston slap ?
Havent driven car for a bout a week, started it this morning, cool, idling a bit rough, not idling rough i should say, more like, a slight change in tone/misfire.
anyhoo, after about 3-4 mins i could hear a slight knocking,it sounded a bit at 1st, not major, but disapears above 2k revs, i thought big ends got noisier the more revs.
it seems to sound like its knocking but its not when its cold, once warm, all cool, even the 8 hrs at work then starting it it doesnt happen, only in the morning really.
could this be piston slap ? MY95 wrx.
Oil pressure is cool etc,all fluids clean/refreshed often
any thoughts......

When my big end went the noise (in the early stages) was only apparent when changing between accelerating & deselerating.
Where as piston slap was only when cold & nuteral low revs.
If you are experiencing the first of the two - get it checked out asap

Piston slap does just not appear after being stood all night, It can & Does appear after a few hours of standing especially if it's low to freezing conditions. It's more of a GRRrrrrr in a can noise with the odd Donk thrown in for good measure!!!
There is a sound file on here somewhere
Found it
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan.le...p%20(cold).mp3
It's more noticeable in this sound file about half way through
