Default moment of madness

ive been out driving the 04 wrx ppp , and dont know what came over me but gave it a good thrash, first of all pulling out of a roundabout the revs were a bit high and back end of car was all over the place. tricky correcting it.

then not long after car went sideways round a longish bend (i was almost facing the other direction of traffic) i dont know what i did to do this but it was scary one of those heart pumping like mad after you calm down and maintain a steady speed

anyone else got any insane or near death style moments

It sounds as though you overestimated your own driving ability to me. An Imprezas grip flatters mediocre drivers and hides the cars poor handling. When you push the car beyond its grip threshold.....

Was in a local repair centre with the lad's car last week, and there's a red WRX 54 plater in there that WON'T be getting repaired, IMHO

Try telling your wife/girlfriend/mother/father/brother/sister/mates that when they are standing over the box you're in.

Grow up. Your death won't impress anyone but will hurt many.

...now there's your problem! Lifting mid-corner will provoke oversteer. If you were on roads that you know, it sounds a bit careless. The old scooby addage is "slow in, fast out!"

Take it easy, and keep your car in one piece!

My 03 WRX PPP used to be wayward at the back when provoked. Some cash apportioned wisely on suspension & chassis mods, along with some good tyres and a fantastic geo set-up will cure it; although if the problem is more the fault of the driver then it would be a waste. The mods I mention, along with many advanced and performance driving lessons saw my car nearly incapable of loosing its back-end, and as for slow in-fast out, that became stoopidly fast in-insanely fast out.

Had a rather large moment at Oulton Park on friday whilst doing a trackday. Bit too much gas exiting Lodge corner and got fired backwards down the hill on the grass towards the tyre wall. GOD! That was scary, my cheque book flashed before my eyes.

Had it stepping out on roundabouts aswell, but i'm blaming the tyres on that. RE070's, Defo getting some more tho. Keeps me on my toes.

You do get a false sense of security in the car and if not experienced it will catch you out, as I learnt about one month into Scooby ownership.

Brand new STi, a mad morning on a country lane, some **** on the road (literally) 5 exciting seconds and a £3,500 repair bill.

I know it was my fault, pushed it too far too soon, that was two years ago am now running much slower on Eagle F1's.

My cornering speeds started getting to the level where when the road straightened I didn't want to go any faster than I already was. For the sake of my license and bank balance I'm having a break from Scoobs for now, but plan to come back with something special, maybe next year.

Consider that: if you can back-off or break mid-corner and still get around, then you could have got around anyway.....
