300+ bhp from my06 wrx
hi
just wanting to know, if the new 2.5 wrx engine can get over 300bhp and what it would take to do it.
also now that the wrx and sti both have a 2.5, is it the same engine just with the sti having different intercooler, injectors etc... or is it a different build.
cheers

To start with you will invalidate your warranty so think about that.
As for engines, the STi engine is completely different to the WRX engine, they may look the same but the are definately not the same.
As for 300bhp, yes there is a good probability that it is capable of getting towards those figures, note that other parts of the car may not be though.

Compression is slightly different from different combustion chamber/piston, and there are air pump channels in the WRX heads. These are really technicalities and as you point out the main difference is intercooler and turbo. So with turbo and intercooler swap with remap you should be able to breach 300 BHP very easily.

it really depends on what you want to use your car for and what your aims are.
I would say, comsider fitting the PPP kit as a first step as that wont kill your warranty or your insurance. Do a search on here for 2006 PPP and you will find a great thread with info on that.
