Having been forced home on Monday to repair my fencing I thought I'd spend some of the day trying to buy a couple of the 'D' plates released for the first time. Was lucky to get thro' a couple of times and bought D15 COV for my Discovery and D8 GGY for either car or bike. Just interested if anyone else bothered or what plates you already have that look good. D8 GGY was an alternative to one I really wanted - D11 CAT.

Question

Iain,

Would be interested to know how much you paid for D8GGY. As a show dog owner this plate would cause much amusement, and probably a bit of jealousy at shows. If you want to sell it on in the future, and I can't afford it, advertise it in a dog magazine I'm sure you'll be knocked down in the rush for it.

Yex, I paid £599 for it and thought it was a good/fun idea at the time but the wife isn't too sure about driving around with 'DOGGY' on the car!!!! We have 2 pedigrees and I said that people will just think we are dog lovers - not sex maniacs! So might sell and having looked at some of the reg sites, may be worth quite a bit more than I paid for it! I didn't buy to sell on and have never bought plates before (normally cos I miss out) but if it's worth something then I will be lucky - might pay for all the furniture the new puppy has chewed!

Iain,

Seems a fair price to me when you consider what some plates fetch these days, and need crafty placing of several bolts to change details etc.

As for your new puppy and his furniture habit, well my last addition who is now 2 1/2 managed to eat: Coffee table x2, leg of dining table, legs on dining chairs x3, corner of settee, door to kitchen (bottom corner of), kick panels under kitchen units x3, post at bottom of stairs, carpet on bottom three steps and a few of her larger plants in the garden don't you just love them. Good job he's won a few certificates otherwise he'd be in a rather large amount of trouble

Just phoned a reg company and they valued it at £1599-£1999. I heard that 'K9 DOG' was up for sale for £20k at this years' Crufts show! So looks like it may be worth selling especially before xmas. I hope my pup (a toller) stops teething soon or she'll eat us out of house and home. She even sees the kids and cats as good chewing material! If you are interested, drop me an e-mail.

Paul,

Question

Iain,

I just don't have the money at the moment to stretch that far for a plate, but it seems you made a good investment

Can you let me know what a 'Toller' is as I don't recognise the breed name. Is it a nickname for one of those Duck Tolling Retreiver jobbies?

You are right, she's a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Hope she might win a few things as well! I might try your suggestion and place an ad in a 'doggy' mag or paper.
Cheers

D0 GGY (D8 GGY)
i thought it was reading

DA GGY (DAGGY)???

but it would be a 4 to make the A and not the 8! but the 8 looks like a A if you nok off the bottom line.....

still think FIL plate looks the best!

A plate that I know of (was actually recalled apparantly) is 3M TA3.
Apparantly someone got offended when looking in their rear vision mirror.
