Had a similar problem. When I bought my car it had a fairly worn Michelin and a new Nexen on the front, plus two "Linglongs" (wtf ?) on the back.

Slid about all over the place in the wet. Just bought 4 Toya T1R's a few weeks ago. Problem solved !!

all 4 tires need to be the same brand, size and quality ar you can not only get bad (assimetrical) traction, but you can break your tranny

Good tyres have a compound the sticks to the tarmac , budget tyres are a cheap compromise , plus not having matching tyres front and back will def not help .
Had bridgestone re40's and in the wet backend would slide out under power , now have yoko parada spec 2's all round and backend sticks now under same test and conditions ! surprised me as the re40's are good tyres as well .

Only thing is you still won't have 4 tyres with the same tread pattern !!

Similar thing last year, I had Yokamahas on the front that were wearing, rears were fine.

Cash was a bit tight at the time and got, budget high performance tyres.

Bottom was all over the place, in fairness to the tyre firm, they gave me a full credit on the budget stuff (returned them after 2 days) and got 2 Yokohamas on the front, no problem at all.

No doubt about it,the mix of tyres made me slide.

My advice to you is, match them all up.

215/40/17. I know you said you had the tracking done, but that isn't the 'geometry'!

Tyres are so important. In my experience I only trust my scoob in the wet when tyres are still quite new and in good nick. Even part worn GSD3's didn't feel safe to me with any degree of standing water on the road. I can't speak for DCCD, but in my car when you hit a wet patch the whole car feels like it is about to let go, unlike a front wheel drive which would probably just pull you through.

Tyres is one thing.

Look at the geometry.

Something tells me you run good negative camber at the front and no negative at the rear plus your toe-in is out.

The main compromise cheap tyres have is wet grip: i.e none.

Which is why I think they should banned to protect us from mr-cheap skate

If anyone has had the (dis)pleasure of driving a car with Raod Champ tyres in the wet (kiwk fit special) you will understand how lethal cheap tyres can be. Last thing you want when a child runs out in front of you

LOL @ 'Linglongs' - you are taking the **** aren't you?! They weren't really called 'Linglong' were they? I think I've split my sides from laughing!

I thought Nankang and Marangoni were the funniest-named **** tyres you could buy? Seriously though, a different tyre on each corner is not a recipe for safe cornering.

Yeah, when I bought the car I had a quick look at the tyres and thought
"Treads look ok". When I got the car back home i spotted all the different tyre makes including the "Linglongs" and thought "Doh !! "

Agree with all those who suggest running decent tyres; never worth skimping on.

Another things is that Scoobies are very sensitive to tyre pressure... As I found out soon after buying mine. Check them regularly...
