Question

I am thinking of getting a set of the STi style fog light blanking plates for MY99.

I went to Motionstyling in Bradford to see the ones that they sell (seem to be the cheapest ones around). The problem is they rely on three clips (two at the top and one at the bottom of the cover) locating in to correesponding holes at the top and bottom of the housing around the fog lights.

The problem with mine is that there are the two holes at the top, but not one at the bottom - there is a recess, but not an actual hole to locate the clips.

The bloke at MS said that this was unususal.

Has anyone had experience of fitting these types of covers to a MY99? Should I try and make a hole at the bottom???

Cheers
Peter

There isn't a slot as standard at the bottom, you need to drill 3 small holes then file it to a slot. But once done correctly, they wont fall out, unless you run over some tyres at a track day (I won't say you managed that)
We have the same covers-painted, and they come with instructions for what to do.

Hey, that was me that did that! (and it was some cones, not some tyres....)

I took them out for the rest of the trackday. Doesn't look too elegant without them....

Put them back on afterwards and they haven't fallen out since

Thanks for that - David you have mail.

Will try and avoid cones then - nice looking car apart from the tape!

Can you get some that fit over fogs or driving lamps?

I believe that DRMotosport's ones will fit over foglamps (but not driving lamps). I removed the foglamps as I had smashed one of them (I took the fuse out as well).

Thats correct, they fit over the standard fog lamps, but not PIAA / Cibie driving lamps.
