is there some sort of governing body with ECU mappers?
or can anyone just get the know-how and a laptop and start up business?
not planning on doing this myself by the way just wondered if there was any certificating that needed to be done as it seems a very much word of mouth/personal recomendation thing that gets a reputation.
don't really know alot of mappers reputations, but appreciate that some have WRC etc. history and don't doubt some mappers don't know their **** from their elbows and have caused no end of problems with customers cars. don't know if there's a 'secret' list of people to go to and those to avoid?

but this is the problem harvey, apart from recomendation on here there's seems to be no real way of finding a good one from a bad one.
there seem to be alot of mappers popping up, but the same names crop up on here time after time i'm guessing everyone has their own tweeks on an ecutek remap for example? just wonder how many take it too far for a headline grabbing bhp figure?

As with anything really customer satisfaction has to be key.
There are probably only 3 mappers whom I'd consider and all three have a vast amount of Subaru experience with unparalleled customer satisfaction. Why you would even consider someone who you're not sure of is beyond me TBH. As Harvey has said, it's the most critical aspect of Subaru tuning.
