Default Sports Panel Air Filters

Evening everyone. I have a JR Panel Sports Air Filter ( like a K&N one but a French Brand).

It says Washable on the box but no instructions. Any tips on how to "wash it" and how to dry it etc?

I know a fellow Scooby owner who "just chucks his in the Wife's Washing Machine" ever so often?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards

Alan MaC....

Taken from my recently acquired K+N Panel Filter instructions...ahem

1,pre-cleaning
Tap the element to dislodge any loose dirt, then brush with a soft bristle brush

2,Spray on K+N cleaner liberally and let soak for 10 mins

(assume white spirits would do the same job?)

3,rinse off with low pressure water, from the clean side to the dirty side

4,shake off excess water and allow to dry naturally

5,After filter is completely dry, spray with filter oil along each pleat, once only

6,Inspection
Carefully apply oil to any visible white spots and let sit for 20 mins....wipe gasket surface clean and do not over-oil..etc etc blah blah

JR should be able to supply the proper cleaning and oiling fluid. But I'm not sure about using white spirit. Either get a K&N cleaning kit, or use washing up liquid to clean it out. Not sure what oil to re-oil it with if you don't get a proper kit though.

I wouldn't do that if I was you but if you do, put up another post and a picture so we can see the results.
Remember the filter's purpose is to remove particles of dirt down to a few microns so if it has a hard time in the washing machine and it does not disintegrate, it could still be useless if the filter mesh is opened up

Thanks Harvey, bottled out in the end.

Don't you find that some folk tell you stuff like the Washing Machine and, expect you to beleive them?

Will try the K&N advice that Emer posted earlier.

Thanks everyone for replying.

Kind regards

.............but after stripping the paint from your inlet manifold, or when preparing a WRX inlet manifold for etch primer and red crinkle, you can put that in the DISH WASHER. It does a good job.
