My First Impreza & New to Scoobynet
Just bought my first Impreza and thought I'd come and say hello, and that I'm absolutely blown away by it. I traded from a BMW 320CI and just wish I'd done it sooner.
I bought a 2004 WRX with an aftermarket exhaust and I have no idea what make it is or anything about it, apart from the fact that it is very loud and I found a baffle in the boot which appears to fit up there and attaches by 2 bolts near the tip of the tailpipe (not that I intend to use it anytime soon!). I don't even know if its just a backbox or a more serious system - is there any obvious way of telling?
I'll see if I can get some pics and post them up here, hopefully someone will be able to tell me what I have!
Cheers.

Welcome to the nuthouse mate
If your back pipe is 5 inches then it coudl be a Nurspec - these are seriously loud.
To check if its a full system you really need to get under the car to be honest.
Prepare yourself for big fuel bills and trust me you will mod it some more despite what you say.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the responses guys,
I picked it up on Thursday morning with 1/4 of a tank and I'd filled it twice by Friday evening!!
Still, I can think of worse things to spend my money on!
I managed to get a couple of quick photos of the exhaust which i'll try to add here:

Another quick one - is there any way to tell if its been chipped or remapped, or does that require a rolling road? Theres an outfit near me called East Coast Customs with a 4 wheel rolling road - I might pay them a visit...

looks like a full system there mate. I'd say if you rolling road it and its more than 260bhp i'd say its been remapped. If not then get it remapped and you'll notice a huge (ish) difference

Woo Hoo!
Thanks for the help.
I promised myself I wouldn't mod it, but what the hell. A trip to East Coast Customs is on the cards.

Does anyone have any experience with these guys or know of anyone else in Northern Ireland who could re-map it for me?

I've got a few bad pics of my car here http://www.mcclay.co.uk
I also have the MX5 that’s in the photos, and yes I have read the 'Girly Cars' thread but I've had it for nearly 7 years and I absolutely love it. I've become used to having abuse shouted at me and things thrown at me in the street. Believe it or not its also a serious target for vandals and has had the hood shredded and windows broken on more than one occasion. It now lives under lock and key in my garage. (i recently cleaned it with Meguiar's Clay - unbelievable stuff)
On the subject of East Coast Commercials, I saw them on the cover of a modified magazine with an 800bhp+ EVO, and I've seen them on track days at Kirkistown a few times in some serious machines. I think I'll have to give them a shout when my bank balance recovers from buying the WRX.
I'd appreciate any feedback on the car - Its on 18" Wolfrace wheels which I'm still not totally convinced by, but I'm not overly bothered about looks or image - the fact that I have the MX5 is testament to that!
By the way, I just met a friend who drives a convertible E46 M3 SMG and I was a fair bit faster off the lights (he even used his 'launch control')... in fairness it was damp and he struggled to put power down, but its still nice to know that he paid nearly 3 times what I paid for my car
