Alloy Wheels, Getting Ingrained Stuff Off
Having problems with my front Alloys.
No matter what I use, (TRIED THE LOT, POORBOYS< AUTOGLYM< SODA CRYSTALS<DETAILING CLAY ETC ETC)
The real thing is, after I have got them clean, you can still see an "orange Peel effect" only on the front.
A Car Valeter that goes into our local says, that there is an Acid Solution that they use in the Trade to sort this out.
2 Questions,
1) I don't really want to use Acid on the Alloys and, is there anything you can suggest to sort this?
2) If the advice you give is Acid, what brand and, where can I get this from?
Thanks for your advice.

Once you have got them clean, polish them with autoglym or whateva polish you use, put it on and leave it a few hours before taking it off then when they are next dirty they should just wipe clean with a sponge!

Orange peal is a term used for the surface that has been spray painted. If that is the case, the only reform is wet sanding or using a cutting polish so the "high" points are removed so they are level withe the "low" points on the surface. The grade depending on how severe it is and if you have enough remaining paint/laquer thickness to completely remove it without burning through.
I find the acid alloy wheel cleaner is no good on laquered or painted wheels. Great for polished ally wheels (not painted or laquered). On anything else it just ruins the laquer (goes milky) or bubbles the paint.
For ingrained metal particles off the disc brakes, I use a ultra-fine grade scotchbrite pad with a some T-cut (which will also help remove any tar) or water as lube with light pressure. Finalising with normal car polish and wax.
