i bought a p1 splitter from ht autos and later realised it was designed for my99-00 bumper ......

will i be able to get this splitter to fit a MY97 bumper with a bit of modification to the bumper.
on first view it looks as though the slits in the bumper (underneath the number plate holder) can be cut out to allow the top of the splitter to slide through.... is this all that would need to be changed in order for it to fit? as i think other than the placement of the indicators and the slits in the grill the actual shape of the my97 and my99 are the same.... please guys any help would be much appreciated.....

It won't even be close to fitting, and the work required to do so would take forever.
It's the profile of both bumpers that's different. The 99-00 bumper is squarer at the front corners with a smaller radius, the early bumper has a lot more of a radius, so you would have to fill a gap of 2-3 inches at both corners.

I hope you followed that.

There is a P1 Style Front Lip Spoiler for (93-98). how does that work?

It's made for the early bumper "in the style" of a P1 splitter... It's a different shape.
