Boost and Fuel controllers vs remap

Boost and Fuel controllers vs remap
So whats the better option ? Getting a remap everytime a mod is done, or best off to get a Greddy spec-E and a S-AFC and adjust it yourself? Or what other options are there?

All depends on what modifications your carring out, if your changing to a larger turbo or changing to larger injectors & fitting a uprated fuel regulator. I would have a remap as your going to have cold start problems and with the extra boost your going to find it difficult to adjust accordingly. Always a safer option to have a remap but the best way is buy all the mods and fit them a few days before your remap just incase you run into problems. Also don't drive the car or off boost at least, this way you only need to remap once.

Once you've had a remap you're only paying for the mappers time. Every mod you make might be able to be optimized by tweeking the map but doesn't require a complete re-map every time.
To be honest, if you have to ask this question, do you have the equipment and knowlege to correctly adjust the fueling and boost to suit, without blowing up the engine.
Fuel and timing are not the only things set up in a (proper) remap.

Thats why im asking the question . Is it worth buying those gadgets and learning to use them or am i better off without them. If a remap is so much better, what are the reasons for people to buy them and tune their cars using such devices?

These things have been around for quite some time, particularly when the only options for mapping on the pre99 cars was an expensive aftermarket ECU like a motec or pectel, and there was not that many people available to map, well it was good value.
If you want to do it properly you're going to need to but a wideband lambda sensor (around £400 for a good one) and make some det cans, then know what to listen for. Turn the boost up (+ fuel cut defender) and tune the fueling accordingly.
There is plenty of scope for error here which could lead to a destroyed engine. The control also isn't all that precise having 500rpm(?) incriments to adjust with.
If you have a post 99car then an Ecutek is the easy option, pre 99 then an Apexi power fc would be the way to go.
Cost and performance wise mapping or new ecu are the way to go, as you get piece of mind that it's done right, by someone that been there and done that. If you're really interested in the subject start learning from there, but it's a huge subject. Not just a weeks reading and you know how to map a car.
Imo the s-afc isn't an alternative to proper mapping. A boost controller can serve a purpose, if you don't need flashing lights then a dawes device will be good enough for 90% of people and doesn't cost the earth.
Apexi Power FC can control the boost for you, As far as I'm aware you need a seperate boost controller with an Ecutek map but stand to be corrected on this.
