P1 sold, help me choose a replacement car
#1
Said goodbye to the scoob on Saturday, as part of my "get a track car and a cheap fun daily driver" plan. Any suggestions for a cheap and cheerful B road bomber?
I'm looking for something fun to drive and chuckable, with fairly low limits, not too expensive to run or insure, that I can park on the street without worrying, and have fun in without risking my license every time I drive it as I did in the scoob. The key factor here is affordable FUN and driver involvement, so no suggestions of diesel Mrk IV Golfs please! Budget is 6k or less. Current candidates are:
Peugeot 106 Rallye Mk I 1.3
Mazda Mx-5
Peugeot 205 Gti
E30 BMW 318iS
Mini
Clio Williams (might be too pricey)
Ford Puma
Honda Civic CRX 1.6 VT
Any other suggestions?

Just a thought, but my 330d and nutter 350bhp/tonne westie cost the same to own/run per year as my MY99+PPP+dp++++ did once you consider all running costs/depreciation/maintenance etc

Go for the Honda CRX. I had a 1989 model that I kept for 11 years. I only sold it to make way for my other 2 cars...no room in the garage, otherwise I would still have it! It was an absolutely fantastic car..redlined at 8,000 rpm, go-kart like handling, cheap to run and insure and fantastic good looks. They need servicing every 6k, so make sure it has a full service record, otherwise it could be expensive!
