MY01 Imports
#2
Fris,
While myself and Geezer were in Holland picking up his MY00, the dealer said there would be no problem placing an order THEN, and that was September.
He stated the savings would be the same, in line with any price hike by Subaru. He said he had received four orders already!
If Geezer reads this then perhaps he can furnish you with the guys details. He was really a top bloke and if I buy abroad I will have no hesitation in using him.
It was something like Gertjan Van Der Welde or something like that

Yeah, Gertjans a top bloke! Looks like he's from 'The Witness' though!!
Just ring him on 0031 186 661556 and ask for a price for a car (plus any extras you want, like A/C, locking wheel nuts etc.) He will then fax you the itemised order, and if you are happy with it, sign it and fax him back.
He will then ask you for 30% deposit, which you can wire to him and then he will order the car.
Phone DVLA and ask them for their 'Importing a car' pack (yes, it really is that simple!!!). Phone customs and excise and ask them for the relevant forms.
Importing really is dead easy, especially when the dealer is as good as Gertjan (he even threw in a free CD player for me) and I saved over £6K in the process.
I would certainly use him again, the only decision you have to make really is do you like the MY01??

fris,
If you do get a quote, can you post it here. I would be interested as I've heard a rumour that the Dutch prices have gone up to try & discourage importers. Having just imported a MY00 myself, I would second Geezer's comments about it being easy to import yourself.
