Default speeding oops

my erm friend

went past a unmarked car on his motorbike, the police car had the speed camera out with the tripod.

but didnt get pulled over, it it true that if they dont pull you over within 500m then you cant get a ticket?????

the camera was only pointing at the front of oncoming cars, so i dont think they would have got a pic of the back of it.

The camera on the tripod is usually linked to a laser gun on the same tripod. It takes a photo of the front of the car so lets hope your "friend" wasn't going to fast.

The camera vans never stop you, don't see why a bloke on a bike would have different rules.

You just get a NIP in the post. If you, oh sorry your mate, hears nothing for 14 days then you're usually OK.

The Laser guns dont actually take your pic, but you may still get something through the post if somebody has managed to get your vrm.

Laser guns can take photos depending on the equipment it's attached to. I've seen laser gun/camera combos before. As your "friend" was on a motorbike i doubt they'll have the caught a pic of the rear of the bike.

Should be ok.

Also they only follow you for half a mile or so before stopping you whilst your speed is calculated over a measured distance. After that if your going to fast, they'll stop you.

Why would the rider have a donkey dressed in leathers on the back of their bike - surely that's a reason to be pulled over in the first place, as it would be dangerous.

Or maybe you really are American?

if the police jotted down his number as he went by, then he might be getting a nip.

This must be served upon the registered keeper within 14 Days of the alleged offence.

So he will need to wait and see. Get your mate or yourself over to PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice and read up on how the law works and soon you will be able to tell myth from fact.

You cant or shouldnt be banned through the post. You are usually requested to attend court, so the magistrates can take great pleasure in handing down the punishment.
