Ive owned me gorgeous 95 WRX for almost three days and spent £70 on fuel. What the hell is that all about? Is there some other way to get around forking out major £££s. Ive been told a lil bit about octane booster but am a bit thick, help?

Lightbulb

Convert it to gas or change the engine to a Justy 1 litre diesel.

Cool

Get a LINK ecu (or unichip piggyback ecu) fitted and mapped to run safely on standard unleaded fuel... also have the lead removed from your right foot. You should get better fuel economy when you have got over the honeymoon period.

thats what you get, average 150 miles from a full tank if driving semi-fast.

or work for a company that gives you a petrol card!

Though £70 quid is a little excessive, I can survive a week (at times) on a tank, the weekend can be more expensive though.

Does you right foot need lots of rest on the floor?

Drop a tin of Pro-Boost in the old girl. Can't tell if it improves mph but does make the car a lot lot better.

Optimax and keeping her out of the turbo whilst in town helps
If you rag her whilst cold aswell you will find she does 1 of 2 things, drinks petrol and wears your engine more (cold oil not good )
Keep her under 2500/3000 rpm for a while, dont go flooring her all the time as these cars are capable of 9mpg!! (or less!!)

Tony
PS, you want economy from a car, get a diesel

Jap imports are designed for 100RON petrol so should probably be run on SUL and octain boost!!! My 95WRX seems to happily run on SUL but is a bit happier on Optimax, never got round to trying octain boost.

An abosute must is a boost gauge, for normal driving keep it of boost, saves petrol and your engine and speeding tickets, when your in the mood to drive quick the gauge will warn you of overboost.

I have run my last 2 scoobies on PUL, during the week and SUL at weekends without trouble, but it takes restraint, easy for me being an old bas#ard.
