Motorway fuel consumption MY98 WRX
Hello,
Anyone got an idea as to what the most economical speed to be driving at on the motorway. Forget speed limits and the rest. Im looking at 60 - 90 mph.
The girlfriend used the scoob for a week to drive to Leeds everyday and got 26 MPG!!
I only ever get 20 MPG and dont understand how she gets it. I have even tried keeping off boost completely which is a pain, but I still dont get it.
Ive tried 65 all the way to Wakefield, 20 miles, and still got on average for the week 22 MPG.
Im not bothered about the cost, its WHY that bothers me.

60mph would be the most economical speed. Did a 100mile round trip when I first got my UK Turbo and averaged 37mpg! I sat a 55-65mph all the time, keeping an eye on the boost guage.

I average about 27MPG on V-Power in my UK turbo. That's mixed motoway and town driving. For a comparison, my Jag that had a fuel computer used to give me about 22-23 for the same driving. That was a combination of around 17mpg around town and around 27 on mototways. I guess I am getting about 30 odd on motoways.
22Mpg @ 65 mph sounds very very low. Were you in 2nd gear?
