sorry mate dosnt sound good by your description on the other thread i would advise getting it checked before things get worse at the moment it could be a relatively cheap repair compared to a rebuild i carried on using mine and ended up with a knackard crank and rods, by your description it sounds like mine did have you recently had to rplace the maf sensor?

I replied to your original post. Also look here for a sound file of piston slap, if the link still works

Hmm,when my engine i scold, it sounds like its knocking, but i have listened and it sounds more like the exhaust tone rather than the engine as such, oil pressure is high and the engine sounds sweet when warm,no rattles or anything, when its cold, its fine for a few minutes it when i reverse out and leave it idling while i shut the gate i can hear it.

the exhaust tones on these can be misleading sometimes.....

I don't mean to get of the point but can someone tell me what piston slap is?

Man I know how you feel, knocking from the engine SUCKS! Any knocking sucks for that matter, and I’d know I own a Peugeot! You cant drive the car and enjoy it at all.

Can you not maybe take the car to a scoob garage? I know it would cost and I'm sure you'd rather get it sorted here but as people have said it may save you £1000.

If I were you Id bit the bullet and get a professional to look at.

yeah im lucky work let me come home early so i can get up early and have a word with scoobybits supremo jason. see if i can take it there later today for a quick checkover, see whats wrong. if worst came to worst il sell it cheap due to knackered engine and save up for another scoob... buy a ****ter in the mean time.

i took these videos tonight... its the clapping, knocking sound that worries me. i know and recognise the dnoises from the boost solenoid and belts etc, but its this other noise that worries me so much. and its there warm or cold...

dunno if they will sound any good, and ignore the flashing one lol was my phone being homophobic.

well i tried to go to bed, and 2 hours later im awake. im just panicking about my car. any ideas whats the earliest i could call jase at scoobybits. i just want him to have a quick wander and see if he can diagnose anything.

im not sure if the videos uploaded onto youtube are working either, seems nothing is going right at the moment.

is this an omen that im just not allowed by god to drive a subaru.

Could just be a pulley, water pump or cam belt tensioner, lets keep our fingers crossed for you.

nope engine is on its way out... gonna either sell it for scrap or try get a second hand engine. but mrs had lost her job today so scooby ownership looking doubtful and may need to get a banger for a while...

not really but jasemac from scoobybits said its on its way out. apparantley the guy i got it off is a total ****** and ***** to boot and has sold me a shabby thrashed example of a scooby. my fault i guess for buying with my eyes not my head after crashing my first subaru. totally skint with a car thats destined for a huooj loss on what i payed for it. looking at at least £1000-1500 for a replacement engine and fitting so may just set the bastard thing alight...

what is the actual fault with the engine?

I may have some spare parts free or swap with drawing(you do the drawings I think)
depends whats wrong and age/spec of your car.

....buy a banger and rebuild the subaru engine yourself. not being funny but I have done a couple of VW engines, maybe worth a shot. if the rest of the car is fine it might be worth looking on here for an engine...

rebuild an engine, you serious? no offence but i havent that level of talent for something that mechanical... might just take off the sellable bits like the exhaust, spoiler, headunit and alarm and scrap the rest...

your car looks to good to scrap why dont you transfer your insurance to a banger and put your car off the road till you can afford to fix it

its got 95 number plates but the ******* thing has all 93 parts on it. bit fishy but a banger all the same. i thought it may be piston slap but i believe jason ruled that out asap. said it was knocking and will eventually get worse. plus the engine pulleys on the front are all loose. theres a broken pipe been shabbily modified to look fixed, altogether a coupla grand at least on the engine bay alone. a very neglected and ****ed up subaru basically. may cut my losses buy a banger, get a years ncb and save up when her in doors has a new job.

not the best of days to be honest. so im going out to get absolutley wankered in true british stiff upper lip fashion.
