Default Prices due to free fuel offer

Do u all think that our second hand car prices will stop going down like a cheap hooker now that the £3,000. worth of free fuel offer has ended on 30th September from subaru dealers . Hope so.

If the £3000 Free fuel offer has ended ... something needs to be put in its place to clear the backlog of Imprezas sitting at airfields ..... so. expect something else of equal discount value!!

Didn't realise there was a massive backlog. This doesn't look good. Also my father has had great delight in phoning and telling me that he reckons he has just seen a tv advert that states the fuel offer has been extended to the end of December. I hope for the residuals sake he is pulling my length. Really fell sorry for the people who bought a new impreza b4 the free petrol offer was brought out.

Theres got to be some catch on that free fuel, surely paying for fuel they are losing money rather than offering the car cheaper of free servicing i.e free labour or something

i never truelly trust the bold advert until i have read the small print

Why a catch??

They could drop the price by £3000 or could give you petrol vouchers for use at outlets where they have done a deal ................

Dropping prices is a one way street - how the hell could they announce an increase of, say, 30% when the market improves?? They can't - hence the offers!

A lass at works husband has just bought a brand new wrx ppp. She reckons u hand over these vouchers after u have wrote your number plate and the amount u've filled up with. Don't no if he paid full list for it though as he wont tell his missus how much of their money he has spent on a car.

at a guess subaru prefer the vouchers as they work out better tax wise. ie as a gift they can give the full value(£3000) if discount they have to factor in vat, leaving a reduced less tempting figure.....but even with the free fuel apart from the dealers carpark i have only seen two of the newer cars on the road.

Actually saw a Subaru ad on tv tonight showing the £3000 fuel offer. In the add a man turns up at home with his new Legacy & there is a fuel tanker outside his house.
So I guess the offer is still current.

The vouchers are easy to use I got in witht he offer & was happy witht he deal, although not quite as straight forward as it couldv'e been but we got there in the end, I didn't mind paying for my fuel upfront to get the car I wanted, it makes no difference we use 2 cars they both run on fuel so it will get spent before the end date

Apparently it does not cost Subaru £3000 for the fuel, due to all the tax and VAT etc. You can have the money off instead but they give you a lot less.

The problem Subaru must have is that you can easily get a brand new car for £3k less than list. Ive been looking at prices of new wagons and they are so much cheaper if you dont get them from the dealler, they also have all the same waranty etc. They therefore need to lower their prices, otherwise whats the point of buying a car from them! I agree with what has been said, as they cannot lower the price for marketing reasons (so difficult to put it back up), so end up giving these free fuel things and the free PPP upgrade which they had on before that to tempt you in.

Oh, and I have also seen 1 year old cars with 10k miles on or so advertised for more cash that it would cost to buy a new one! I feel sorry for the guys who have bought a new car at full price and are trying to sell them after a year...Its sh*t how car prices go down so fast....

Spot on mate. Was talking to a dealer today as to why he had 2nd wrx's for £18,999. He wouldn't admit that these were overpriced even after discussing the £3,000. worth of fuel and that u can get a brand spanker from carshock, motorpoint etc for £16,000.
