Sold my STi - life is over !!
I've sold my 53 plate STi ppp. My life is over.
I've held onto my boy-racer youth as long as I could (39), but now it's time to grow old gracefully and buy a Golf / Seat diesel !!
I just couldn't get used to the limited range and having to navigate by Optimax stations. I got sick of the notchy gearbox and too stiff stiff suspension.
I got sick of the wife moaning -
My neck hurts.
You're going too fast.
I feel sick.
Do you have to accelerate and brake like that.
That wasn't an overtake.
We are going to die.
You think more of this car than me.
ETC, ETC, ETC !!
It's been a pleasure to be the proud owner of a Scoob, and a pleasure to be on Scoobynet. Some great people on here - good advice, very funny threads, good arguements, etc.
If you see a silver Golf holding up a queue of traffic on a country lane or staying in the middle lane of the Motorway all the time, it might be me. I can't believe my life has come to this, but it's time to insert the tube on the colostomy bag and grow old gracefully.
Look after yourselves and the forum.
See ya.
p.s. - can I still come on here as a honery Scoob member.

Hmmmm - this rings a bell - at 42 I was also too old for my Sccob (JDM STi 9) and had suffered all of the comments Graeme's missus has thrown at him!
I too went out to buy a trusty diesel and guess what? I arrived back with another scoob! Doh!

When I sold the last of my Impreza run I purchased a nice golf gt tdi. Lovely car, 500 miles per tank, comfortable, soft etc etc. However, the thing was as boring as **** and couldn't handle for toffee. I'm back in an Impreza now.
I don't know what your budget is, but it may be worth getting an older Impreza for yourself only for weekends etc, and getting an oil burner for when the wife is about.

I got rid of my MY99 classic after 2 years and fannied around with diesels for the next 5 years (my years in the wilderness) before I came to my senses and now have another Scoob. It won't be long before you're back in a Scoob! Try a WRX (non-STi) with PPP - far better gearchange and much better as an everyday car and still goes like stink. Good luck!

Andy M3,
Funny you should ask that. Sit back, I want to tell you a story !!
I got £13,500 for it.
I had it on Ebay for £14,000. It didn't reach it's reserve, so the highest bidder contacted me after the auction ended and said he would give me £13,500. I wanted rid of it, so I took it. He said he'd wanted one for ages, etc, etc, etc, came up and paid cash. He said he would have to put the company name on the log book, which I thought sounded a bit suspicious, so I looked the name up on the internet 5 minutes after he left and hey presto !! my car was already on the car showroom website for £15,000. Cheeky b'stard !!
Told me a pack of lies even though I suspected he was a dealer. Not a problem for me if he was a dealer or not, I got what I wanted for it. Hope he gets what he wants for it. Just no need to tell a pack of lies !!

Couldn't possibly do that, but tempting.
Just wondering what a 53 plate STi ppp 30,000 miles, 2 owner, is really worth as a private sale ??
Do you think a dealer will get £15,000 for it ??

I managed to get £15k for my 53 JDM Sti with 26k miles - he had the API 350 re-map - I think you can get decent £'s but need to keep your nerve and be luckt. That said, I would have taken £13,500 same as Graeme.

I got rid of my P1 2 weeks ago after 3 1/2 years of fun. Now I'm running around in a Golf GTI with 120 less bhp than the scoob. At least I can sleep at night now though I don't need to worry about my big end going, or my pistons melting.
