hi guys

what kind of difference would i got if i build an exhaust system with downpipe from normal exhaust steel ?? compared to t-304 stainless steel???

are people using stainless only cuz it wouldnt rust??

Generally stainless does last longer. Normal mild steel at your usual thickness lasts about 3 years as a minimum. Maybe a bit longer if it is has an aluminuised coating

But I have seen after market "stainless steel" systems that have such poor welds and use such thin metal on the boxes and baffles, that will fall apart almost as quick.

I've previously welded up my own systems using chopped up exhaust tubing and silencers, and they've last longer than the equivelent that you'd buy off the shelf.

Seeing what the rip off prices companies charge for an Impreza "backbox", I' say go for it

i want to connect my stock STI backbox to the system i want to build
all from mild steel 3"

if its crap all i will lose is around 50 pounds
gonna do up pipe, dp and mid part

i will post pics and let u guys know how it goes
