Question 2005 Forester STI £13500?

Since purchasing a Jap import recently, I had not realised how nice some of the cars are that come from Japan. Low mileage, high spec and nice condition cars are easy to find. So I did some searching and found this:Click here.

A May 2005 Forester STI, 12500 miles - £13500 delivered to Bristol port. Now I admit, that is not the only costs involved - but you could easily have a 12 month old Subaru, that is rare and cheaper than any other 2.5 2005 forester.

Anyone done this sort of thing?

I wouldnt send over ¥2,000,000 to people I didnt know on the internet. The only way to buy is through an agent that you know and trust, who buys cars that you choose to bid on from electronic auction listings. Cheaper; safer; better.

Not sure about the VAT bit, but SVA, and MOT isn't much - maybe a remap and including vat [wasn't aware you had to add this] it is still good value, although still a lot of money........

So how much did you pay for the RA once it was fully road going, and what do you feel it is worth?

Would have to add VAT to it...

The other potential problem is that not only selling it, but finding a buyer could be tricky as well given your market is far less limited. And part exchange may also be impossible as I would imagine many dealers would not touch it given it's an import. I'm not saying it cannot be done, just that it cannot be considered a normal car and thus have a far smaller potential market...

Car FOB £12,172
Carriage will cost £452
Import Duty: £1,263
VAT: £2,430
Customs clearance: £60
Transport from port: £100+

So, just getting on your drive unregistered will cost £16,500. Now all you have to do is hope that Iain Lichfield has a Model Report and that he will hire it out to you, otherwise youre up ****-creek.

Btw: if they quoted you £13,500 landed then theyre crooks too. My figures are based on their advertised FOB price which include stevadoring, transport and de-registration. Be assured that the figures are absolutley accurate; based on the correct M3 size for the car and the current shipping rate per metre3 and the correct exchange rates.

Ivan,

Who owns Foresters Subaru Garage in Bilston West Midlands just has.

Cracking Black Jap STI Forester, putting on a bigger blower, Intercooler & stuff for a fraction of the UK price.

He's a dead helpful guy & knows Scoobs inside out.

Don't think he'd mind people calling for advice & help, 01902/494889.

Good Luck.
