Question classic impreza turbo car width

Basically I need to know if the width of a classic turbo impreza which according to the hand book is 66.5 inches is the width with the mirrors out or is it just the width of the body minus the mirrors? The thing is we maybe getting a new house and the garage is tiny and the scooby may have to go because of this as it wont fit width wise.

Just drive it in. If there is a loud crash and the mirrors flash past your windows you know the width quoted did not include them.

Let me get this straight...

You're buying a new house and you don't know if your car will fit into the garage... Measure both and the answer will be apparent!

GF/wife and a tape measure for the garage, plumb bob off both mirrors and mark the ground (chalk?), then measure between the marks for the car!

HTH

Maybe a good method. I am not daft as I have measured the car and as far as I can see it is more than subaru think it is, I am doing something wrong. The garage is really really tight and the car probably wont go in untill the builder does a few mods to the brick work and doors but we can not do that untill we buy the house obviously. At the moment The garage is 76.5 inch wide inside, the scooby 66.5 inch wide according to the manual but does not say that includes the mirrors, not much room for play.I may if possible have to push/pull the car in and out as its that tight. I dont want to loose my car but this house is a good buy and we dont have the space or money to build a new garage. Come on Scoobynetters what would you do? I need good and positive advice

Think about getting in and out as well. if your a fat knacker like me you'll need extra width to open the damn door and get out

Cant believe that they make a garage that an Impreza cant get in. Many larger cars out there. Are you sure its not a dog kennel? (sorry did not read the bit about positive advice) good luck anyway.

My garage is very tight on the width aspect. I have a piece of carpet on the wall to rest the door against and I have to fold the mirrors to get past. Its not ideal but thats all the room we had when building it.

If you can get in with the mirrors in their normal position then you can also get out of the car (assuming 4 door and not 2 door). Having the window down also helps.

I was in your situation when i moved, just had to put up with folding my NS mirror in so i could get out ( and im only skinny!)

Knocked the garage down now and had a new one build, 282" x 156"

just about live in there now!!

if the house is right then go for it.

Its an old house and the garage was home built

I have a piece of carpet on the wall

Was thinking about that one

If you can get in with the mirrors in their normal position then you can also get out of the car (assuming 4 door and not 2 door).

as the way it stands I doubt it. Was thinking of pushing it in and pulling out but that would be hard getting it to go in excact. Going to try the plumb method from the mirrors later to see.

Slightly off topic but I moved into a new house and drove into the garage (quite wide but dark) at a reasonably brisk pace.........and demolished a chest freezer which I didn't know was going to be there

is the garage long enough ?

Factory measurements exclude the mirrors.

Measured it the way Vindaloo said to and the width of the car inc mirrors is 76 inch. without the mirrors it is like what subaru say it is 66.5 inch. So in theory it will fit but with only a few inches either side.
