V power
if you spend all that money on a fast car I don’t see that other pound or so will make a difference, its not just the added power but It also has cleaning properties….. it must be better for the car

Well so far it seems a bit one sided, but i am sure my Subaru Dealer said that they actually run there PPPs on normal unleaded. I may be wrong but i think he said Subaru say you dont need to use the expensive fuel.
If say i do decide to use the expensive stuff, what happens if say i am in the middle of no where and i have no choice but to use normal unleaded.

It will work with normal and super unleaded fuel but is designed / mapped to give the best power gain with 97+ Ron Super Unleaded ..... as has been said earlier it says so on the PPP certificate - and there is kind of a reason for that !

V Power for me and optimax before that.
was told by subaru dealers and scoobclinic and many others to run WRX with PPP on nothing less unless it was an emergency and only unleaded available and IF that was the case to drive off boost until car was refilled with the good stuff

V Power or Tesco 99 octane. Mike Wood says that 99 octane is BETTER in a PPP car than 97/98 octane. I remember when Tesco 99 first came out and using that in my STi 03 PPP, what an improvement!

Mike Wood of Prodrive has been on here before to say that it will run on NUL, but -and I quote- "don't expect it to run nearly as well"
Use SUL always(my choice is V power)! I see no valid argument for scrimping on petrol for performance cars.

V Power - but as a backup BP Ultimate seems the next best! Funnily enough Tesco 99 is great for top end power but doesn't have anywhere near the mid range torque of Ultimate / V Power .....

A bit harsh saying everyone else isn't giving an honest answer, they're expressing their opinion, quite apart from the fact the car's been modified by Prodrive and Prodrive recommend 97+ Ron for it !

When i said the cars future depended on it, i meant i did not want to be blowing the thing up by using the wrong juice. I have no probs what so ever using the dear stuff, i just did not want to use it if it was just a gimick. I will be following the majority. Which as it goes at the moment SUPER it looks like its going to be.

OOPS, might have misinterpreted that !!
Think you're right, although you're basically looking at more responsiveness with SUL - the car's not going to implode if you run it on UL !
"Enjoy" anyway !!

My MY05 WRX PPP states 98RON only by the filler cap I use 99RON Tescos. Whether it makes a difference or not I cannot tell you as I've never used anything else but its generally a lot cheaper than Optimax!

Fifth gear did a test of the different octane ratings of fuels and their effect on different types of cars. It found that in normal everyday family cars that putting in super unleaded made no difference to the cars BHP compared to normal unleaded so it wasnt worth the extra money. They tried normal unleaded in an STi and it produced the manufacturers spec BHP output. They then drained the tank and filled the impreza up with super unleaded. It gave a power output then which was greater than manufacturers spec. Actually significantly greater. The test was repeated with Ultimate and Optimax and the Optimax gave more power than the ultimate. I say put what you want in but if you want your motor to go quicker then use super unleaded.

i agree with ULTRAVIOLET i dont particualy drive mine that harsh, would really definatley use SUL for a track day but normal road use i just use 95 never had any issues at all
i used to use Optimax religiously with my old MY95 WRX jap import for 3 years but the nearest Shell is 20 miles for me
