Default Turbo

Is the td05 turbo better than a standard wrx turbo? Is it the sti turbo or a better one for 320 bhp?

Depends what you want:

Td05 is bigger than a td04, so can produce more boost at high revs without temerparture issues.

However the TD04 can spool up quicker and is less laggy.

...Twin scroll has best of both

if spool up isnt too much of an issue, would it be better?
i'm only going to run 1 bar of boost maybe 1.1 or 1.2

The TD05 is a bloody good and robust unit, better than the VF range for power and price. It is good for 350+ bhp.

How can people answer a meaningless question? A TD05 isnt worth £150 and it IS a standard WRX turbo. A fool and his money are soon parted eh?

I was told that the 95 wrx didn't have the same turbo as the sti and the td05 is off an sti so are people telling me fibs or is it that some wrx's do have that turbo?

afaik all wrx imports (well classics) had the tdo5 turbo mate, unless a wagon or a uk car which had the tdo4 turbo. the cars power was managed by the ecu, basically the same engine but controlled by different ecus, ie mine is 240 from a U8 ecu, 260 is from a Z4 ecu and 280, well im not that far developed yet. so hence the different power figures, all down to the ecu. unless your original turbo was fooked, money wasted as ive heard the original tdo5 can handle 350bhp which is my aim...

A 1995 WRX Saloon has a TD05 turbocharger. STIs do not have a TD05 (with the exception of the GF8 STI V2; and thats not a real STI, its just a std Saloon engine in a 'Wagon with Z4 ECU and everything).
