front bumper removal 06 sti help required please!!
Some very kind soul decided to smash the nearside headlamp on my 06 STI ... I now have the new part (£600 - ouch!) but Subaru want £200 to fit (yeah right!!!) ... so am assuming the bumper has to be removed to fit the headlamp ... Have a man to do the job but need info on what needs to be removed in order to fit the new part ... can anyone help?
thanks in advance

If similar to 04 sti all that is required is to remove the center section plastic fixings about 10/12 if i remember rightly, then remove the center section,
undo the bolt (10m) that is holding the light, should be a white plastic bracket, disconect the wires from the light, and carefully push the light out, without scratching the paintwork !
If not similar and you have to remove the whole front section, I can understand why subaru want £200 to remove......... its a B******d
There are 2(both sides) plastic fixings on the splash guard, then stupid(try not breaking them ) plastic screws inside the the splashguards connecting to the front wing,
more inside the fog light covers and underneath the bumper with some 10m bolts aswell ..... You will be very lucky not to break any of the plastic fixings,
but local dealer should have them on the shelf !
Done my 04 sti a few weeks back and it is not a task to be taken lightly
GOOD LUCK

Cheers ... the guy doing the job is good and works for an accident repair specialist, but we thought we could at least help him out by trying to find out how it all comes apart rather than him having to figure it all out ... fingers crossed for no broken screws ... and once again thanks for the help
