Default what benefits from a lambda link?

thinking of getting a re-map soon to a MY1999 u.k turbo. was thinking of getting a lamdbda link fitted at same time. can members on here comprise a list of good reasons for having one running, for instance can they help show early stage problems and if so what ones?
rgds.

Lambda Link shows your air/fuel ratio. It will show in real time if you are leaning out.
I have an Autometer AFR (essentially the same as the link) and it showed my car was running lean. It prompted me to have a Delta Dash run done which pointed to the maf sensor. If i hadn't bought the gauge, i would have carried on driving with my failing maf which "may" have cost me the engine

Subaru fit them as standard so they MUST surely be a required piece of kit!
