Why do evo owners think their better !
Just been looking at some posts on the mlr forum , and just getting wound up at the amount of posts from evo owners saying that the evo is so much better then the scoob , really annoying considering alot of them have never owned a scoob
but the ones who have don't put the scoob down , also when they do evo v impreza tests why do they pick a bigger evo i.e fq 320 against wrx sti and not put a fq 300 against a sti ppp ? sometimes i think that it takes certain people to be scoob owners and others evo owners
At the end of the day they are both good cars , so dont slag the scoob's off !
The scoob sounds better !!! so there !

They just have to justify their higher running costs by slating the scoob as an inferior car.
As you say, they might have more power generally but they don't sound as good.

mates got evo 8 fq300 uses it everyday to get to work £20 x 6 days £120 to get to work (can anyone like work that much) needs 2 tyres every 2 months, servicing every 3500miles, seems to go through front and rear pads like there made ov chocolate, and to top it off its broken down at least 3 times in the last 6 months, spend spend spend, and thats all before he uses it for pleasure, wots good about that?????????????????

If you are looking at other factors then the some Scoobs might have a chance.

PS No I don't drive an Evo I am merely realistic that it is possible for a car to be better than an average Scoob. And the Evo is one of them.

always been a fan of evo but their running cost, less driver involvement etc sort of made me walk towards subarus and nothing sounds sweeter than a scooby, I have 3 evos in my town and they all wave at me so not all of them are big headed but in general i think most are.
I've had seven Imprezas now, and will keep buying them. Prefer the Evo, and will buy another TME one day.
If you've driven one you'll know what I mean.
If you haven't, then you aren't really qualified to comment....

Evo more clinical and synthetic, faster maybe but devoid of the character of the Impreza. More exclusive possibly because it's less popular. Before you ask yes I am qualified to comment, prior to my Wrx Ra I had a 400bhp Evo Seven.

Evo's plummet just as much as scoobs, if not more

Tony
PS there was a normal 05 STi but it didnt have the PPP so a fair comparison wouldnt have been a normal v 300 bhp evo.
The Lancer you listed is an import and you can buy a brand new IX GSR on a 56 plate for around £21k. You have to be very careful buying an Evo as a LOT of them are mis-sold by using the FQ moniker.

1.) Less common
2.) Haven't been capitalised by the chav element (yet)
3.) Cheaper to mod to higher bhp
4.) Hold their value better
5.) They look meaner
I would love to own one but am put off by the running costs and the fact that a lot of people seem to keep them for a short time only before selling them. I saw one the other day that had 10k on the clock and 3 owners! I have heard (not my opinion) that people lust after them but after they have lived with them for a while find that they do not fulfill as they thought they would.

Up until Monday we had one of each and while the Evo was faster, lighter, and more refined it had half the character of the Scoob. Hubby couldn't understand why I didn't want to drive the Evo as he thought it was the D.B.'s.
I had a choice between a STI PPP and a Evo Fq300. Chose the Scoob for the reasons above, running costs.
No doubt the Evo is the out and out faster, more hardcore car, but servicing every 4500 miles, new tyres in about the same time, brake pads and even sh1tier mpg made the Scoob the obvious option.
Plus, I have to say. I prefer the look of the Impreza over the Evo.

Possibly because the MLR is full of car enthusiasts, whereas this place is now full of prats who come on here wanting to stir up ****.
Go on SIDC and it is similar to the MLR, people who join car forums becasue they actually like cars!!!!

It still confuses the hell out of me why people who hate Subaru's decide to join a Subaru forum and spout crap all day.
Maybe they were bullied at school, and feel brave enough to do the same themselves now they are safe behind their keyboards.
I spend alot of time on SIDC now. Not as busy as here, but at least the people on their actually have an interested in cars.
